Frequently Asked Questions
What Is a Complementary Consultation?
We schedule 15 to 20 minutes to discuss your needs and how we can help. This can be done in person or over the phone. There is no cost for this visit.
Do I Need a Referral From My Doctor?
The state of South Carolina allows you to receive physical therapy services for up to 30 days without a doctor's referral. If you require treatment beyond 30 days, we will work with you to obtain a referral.
If you have a referral, please bring it with you to your appointment.
No referral is needed for wellness services.
What Can I Expect During My First Visit?
You will meet one-on-one with your physical therapist to discuss your needs and go over your medical history. Your therapist will take baseline measurements and perform any necessary tests. We then discuss any findings and recommended course of treatment. We will start treatment that day (if your schedule allows).
Please allow 60-70 minutes for this initial visit.
How Should I Dress For My First Appointment?
We recommend that you wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes. If you are receiving hip or knee treatment, please considering wearing or bringing a pair of shorts.
We have cover-ups available for modesty.
What Is a Concierge Clinic?
A concierge (boutique) clinic is one that chooses to operate outside of the traditional insurance based model of practice. In an insurance based model of practice, executives at the insurance company make decisions about your healthcare. They decide what problems and treatments they will cover, as well as the number of visits and reimbursement rates.
These restrictions have forced insurance based practices to limit time patients spend with therapists, or require therapists to see more than one patient at a time.
We believe that your healthcare decisions should be made by you and your provider. We value quality of care over quantity of visits, and want to help you achieve better results with one-on-one treatment.
